WDW - Animal Kingdom - Update

Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom -

     ALLOT has happened and is happing at Animal Kingdom lately. Animal Kingdom has become the center of attention in the past few months and it will continue to as Avatar Land is picking up speed. But as well their are quite a bit of other things happening around the park including: closers, expansion, opening up of the attraction and more.

     June 5th was the last performance of Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade. The parade debuted on September 24, 2001, as part of the 100 Years of Magic celebrations. Along with the normal parade there was a holiday edition. Here are some pictures and a video of the last performance. Disney has not announced any plans to replace the parade with another one. They are planning on adding some nighttime entertainment: Rivers of Light (clip the link to find out more about Rivers of Light) and night time safari.

     There has been no dates released for the opening of Rivers of Light but there is a rumor that it will open up some time March 2016. This will give the designers an off time to create the show and build the necessary equipment for the show. As well they will probably have to expand the walkways around the river to accommodate the extra crowds. And it will give them exactly a 2 years to created and build it and one year before the opening of Avatar Land. Remember this is all just RUMERS and not facts!

    As well Disney is starting a attraction called "Winged Encounter the Kingdom Takes Flight” this attraction will allow guest to see the macaws up close and see them flying around the Island! The trainers are in the midst of training the macaws so you can see them flying around as they are being trained.

     Disney is also building a new beverage kiosk! It is located beside Flametree BBQ near the DinoLand USA bridge. It will probably look like the Joffrey’s locations in Hollywood Studios. There are construction walls up at the location right know. Here are some pictures of the walls.

Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom -

    Disney Outfitters has constructions walls around the one side of the merchandise store. It is under and expansion rate know. This area will provide more merchandise space. After creature concert closed a few months back they have started making plans on expanding the store to make up for it. The only creature concert store will probably because the parks Starbucks location.

    Lets turn our attention to the Safari know! The parks has receive three new animals Grevy’s zebra joins Pangani Forest Expedition Trail. They are the largest Zibra species in the world and their are only about 2000 left in the whiled! Their are 2 females and 1 male at Disney rate know. Here are some picture of what they look like. As well Disney has released a POV video of their Wild Africa Trek attraction! You can find the video here.

    As the park is expanding an allot of new attractions are opening up or are coming the problem of not an off parking space will start popping up. So the grassy area at the rear of the lot will be turned into a parking lot and merged with the existing one. It should be finished by September, 2014.
