WDW - Disney Springs Update - 15/05/14

Disney Spring Construction Wall - May 8, 2013 - by Chad Dewey
Quite a bit has happened at Downtown Disney since we last talked about it: some great progress has been made on the causeway, high line and parking garage, as well a closure, another store’s opening announced and more.

From these pictures of the Market Place Causeway they seam to be adding concrete to the causeway, as well allot of work seams to be going on on the Rainforest Cafe side. When completed latest this year the cause way will provide a way for guess to cross form Rainforest Cafe to the area near T-REX.

Is it coffee time yet? Well almost at Downtown Disney the Market Place Starbucks location; it has just been outfitted with the Starbucks signage! It will be the first First Starbucks location to open up at Downtown Disney. For more information about the new Starbucks location take a look at this article.

Which brings us to the next topping: "What is happening at West Side.” Well quite a bit actually, Blink by Wet Seat closed on May 1, it opened up sometime in 2011, it will be replaced temporary by United World Soccer. It will be built just in time for 2013 FIFCA World Cup in Brazil.  No opened dates have been officially announced but on the windows it says "kicks of May 22”.

The new kiosks, next to Disney Quest, that will become the new homes for Haagen Dazs and Wetzel’s Pretzels, are nearing completions. From what we can see in these picture they look almost finished. Their old building were closed in late 2013 to make room for the new Starbucks.

As well construction on the West Side Hight Line is well underway. The steel structure is know in plane sight, on the side next to the West Side Starbucks locations. When completed it will run from the West Side Starbucks location, next to Characters in Flight all the way to Bongos. It will provide an amazing viewing area, seating for the Food Truck Park, and shade for the West Side area.

It’s been a while since we check out how the West Side Parking Garage is doing; it is now up to 3 levels! When complete it will have a total 5 levels of parking and it is expected to open up sometime late 2014. Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what it looks like.

As well expect to see lane closures on Buena Vista Drive popping up. The first one took place on May 6, 2014, from midnight to noon. The work will at first be around the intersection of Bonnet Creek Pkwy and Buena Vista Drive, just out side of Old West Side.

So that’s it for know but be sure to check back with me later for more information about the Disney Spring expansion and other expansions happening at Walt Disney World and other Disney parks, resorts and the Disney cruise line.
